Wisconsin Lake & Pond Resource was contacted by this customer to provide options for reclaiming the pond located within an abandoned stone quarry. After our initial site evaluation it was quickly determined there was an abundance of organic muck due to years of organic and leaf debris depositing in the pond. The customer has completed significant site restoration and along with the aeration system WLPR will be incorporating beneficial bacteria and enzyme products to aid in depleting the organic muck.

Wisconsin Lake & Pond Resource was contacted by this customer to assist in improving water quality conditions as a result of extreme nuisance algae blooms. WLPR implemented an intense management program which included nutrient reduction, biological components, and algaecide applications. The Chem-Feed system is operated in conjunction with the aeration system, allowing the liquid bacteria and enzymes to be dispersed via turbulence from the diffusers. The system is programmed to dispense the bacteria and enzymes twice daily. Since the installation of the Aeration/Chem-Feed system, algaecide applications have been reduced from 6 times per year to only 1.

Wisconsin Lake & Pond Resource was contacted by the general contractor of this project. The goal was to develop options for de-icing around the piers to minimize damage during the winter. Due to isolated electrical locations, WLPR installed a diffused air system to accomplish their goals. We were required per DNR regulation to develop a system that would suspend the diffusers, not allowing them to come in contact with the bottom of the lake. This is the preliminary system with plans to add additional components yearly.

WLPR was required to design an aeration system to provide adequate circulation of the water column. The aeration system is one component of a complex system. It is required to assist in the temperature regulation of the water because this pond contains a large heat exchanger used for heating and cooling of the corporate facilities. In addition, this pond is a focal point of the facility and water quality management is important.

Wisconsin Lake & Pond Resource was contacted by this client to obtain assistance in developing a quality fishery. We performed a minor water quality assessment of the pond. Initial D.O readings in mid-July were less than 2.5 ppm throughout most of the entire pond. Oxygen levels were below 1 ppm 3 feet below the surface. We quickly came to the conclusion that there were no fish in the pond due to the low oxygen levels. One month after installation of the aeration system, the D.O readings were 5.0+ ppm throughout the entire pond.

Wisconsin Lake & Pond Resource has been managing these ponds for three years. To aid in improving water quality parameters, we recommended that the client install aeration. There is a high level of recreational activities such as swimming, fishing, and boating that occur in these ponds. The clients management goals included minimal algae growth, elimination of pond odors, and a quality fishery. A minor summer fish kill occurred in 2009 prior to installation. In addition winter oxygen levels were approaching fish die-off conditions.
