Building a Pond can make you Happier

May 6, 2019

It’s something we most likely all sense in some fashion. Being near water just feels good. But recently, an article by Cottage Life spells out the actual science behind why we seek it out and how it impacts our health and wellness.

The article references the work of marine biologist, Wallace J. Nichols, and his work and writings on what he calls, “Blue Mind.”

Blue Mind, Nichols posits, is something like a meditative state induced by proximity to water. “It makes us happier,” he says. “It connects us to each other, it connects us to ourselves, it connects us to place.”

The science behind our connection to water – Cottage Life

The article goes on to say that regardless of the body of water we’re around, including a swim or fishing pond in our own backyards, is a way to help us detach from our stresses and connect with ourselves and those around us. Our team and our clients feel the same way. There’s nothing quite like being on a quiet body of water, taking in the nature that’s right in front of us. It truly can be a form of meditation to gain mindfulness.

What if you could have that experience every single day without the need for a second home or “cottage” that you’d have to maintain in addition to your own home? If you’ve got two acres or more, then our team at Wisconsin Lake & Pond Resource can make that dream a reality for you. Let us know if you want us to swing by for a consultation to see if it’s the right fit for you.
